Summer To Do…

30 May

Yes, yes. Long time no post. The last month of school is always crazy, so I had to take a bit of a hiatus. But I’m back!

I’m a technology coordinator at a school, so I’ve got the same work schedule as a teacher. Which means I need to come up with a summer to do list or else I will do nothing but read and sleep in for six weeks. Although that sounds simply delightful, I might will start feeling pretty guilty as David wakes up to go to work each morning.

For the first few summers that I was out of college, I was busy working on my master’s degree. The next summer I was busy planning our wedding. Last summer, I had absolutely nothing to do. For the first week, it was amazing…but I quickly realized that I needed to have some summer goals.

So, here are my summer 2012 goals…

1. Create plans for my yearbook class. Yes, you read that right. I’m so incredibly excited to start up a yearbook class at my middle school next year. I’ve been in charge of the yearbook for three years now, and I got the go ahead this year to offer a Journalism class for 8th graders who want to help with the book. Yearbook is near and dear to my heart…I’ve been working on yearbooks (at McIntosh High School, UGA, and Richards Middle) for 14 years now! I can’t wait to pass that love on to some great kiddos.

2. Blog! I often struggle with what I want this blog to be. I know that I love writing, and I know that this is a great outlet for me because writing doesn’t happen all that often. So, this summer I’m going to focus on this blog and how I want it to work.

3. Clean out! I feel like we have an insane amount of stuff around here. And most of it is never even used! Our lease ends here at the end of September, and we’re planning to move onto something bigger. I want that move to be as easy as possible…I don’t want us moving things and then realizing we don’t need them!  Imperfect Homemaking has some really neat tips and ideas for de-cluttering your house.

4. Thirty day shred! I’ve had quite a few friends take on the thirty day shred, and I’m quite excited to get started. Have any of y’all done it? I’m planning to start on June 1!

5. Read! I’m an absolute sucker for crime series novels. I think it may be my OCD nature to love books that wrap up so nicely.  Recently, David and I have stepped out of our reading comfort zone and started on The Walking Dead series. We’re absolutely loving it. Also, I’ve started on some Marvel comics, and they are great.

I know not all of y’all are teachers, but do you have any summertime goals?

These sound great and exciting! I always like to make a list of goals…it’s staying focused on them that’s challenging for me. This summer, I want to read, run, and work on our yard. We’ll see how I fare once August rolls around 😉 If you and Dave want to get away this summer…Athens and our house is calling y’all’s names!

I love reading what you write! Ok, goals for me are less specific, but goals none the less
    1. I. plan on doing one kind deed for someone each week this summer….random, I know…
    2. I plan on one home improvement task each week
    (See the pattern :-))
    3. I plan on getting my walking in early each morning……most days.

Yayy! I’m so glad you are back! And, I didn’t know you were looking at a bigger spot. I can’t wait to hear about your plans! I have two goals for the summer: Taking sewing classes and cleaning out my disastrous closet!
